last minute christmas crafting =P

i have been a busy bee with so many things going on this time of year
for starters, i have been more than obsessed with researching all things vintage preparing myself for my personal challenge and New Years Resolution. i have looked up all things hair, make-up, and clothing from my favorite decades. i do enjoy the 20s, 30s, 60s, and 70s but i am obsessed with the 40s and 50s

i almost have my room in order from all the recent changes ive made and i rather like the way it is coming together. i will snap some pix when i feel i have it under control.

and of course, there is Christmas coming... already a week away! eeek!
i have decided all ladies get kitchen sets and all guys get ties.
i have yet to cut fabric for the ties, im terrible, i know. i was so ready to make them, just got itimidated for some reason... either way i have a week to bust out 6 ties. (wish me luck)
i did make tons of kitchen sets but sold some at the sale i just had. i need to make 4 more. i have everything cut i just need to run by Joanns for the heat resistant filling (tomorrow).

so here are some pix for your viewing pleasure of kitchen sets, wallets, and hairbows ive recently made:

its hard to pic a favorite, but i am partial to the watermelon potholders and nautical wallet myself
do you have a fave?

2 wallets i made for some friends...

i have gotten pretty good at making these wallets... the first one is for my siamese twin juana iguana... i am jealous and want one for myself =P this wallet is sized for credit/debit/ID cards. great for when your making a quick trip and dont want to take everything you usually carry

This next one is for one of my night shift momma's, Diana. She let me pick the design to suprise her and i love the way this one came together. The blue tones make me feel like i'm closer to water. This one is sized for tea bags...

Beginning to make the tea wallet...

i began making my tea wallet today =)
i tried to make a point of taking pix at each step
on that note... here's the progress so far

first i chose my main fabric and fused a 5x7 cut of interfacing to it with the steam setting on my iron

fuse the "glue" side of the interfacing to the wrong side of your fabric

then i cut 2 5x7 pieces each of both the fabrics i chose to use (1 of the pieces is the one i just fused to intefacing)

next i folded the pieces used for pockets in half and steam ironed them, then topstitched the FOLDED edge

i measured 1 inch from the bottom of the main interior fabric, pinned my first pocket, and sewed the bottom of the pocket to the main. i followed with the other pocket lined up with the bottom of the main fabric, pinned and sewed the bottom as well.

i then folded the whole interior in half and pressed the edge to line up the exact middle. i sewed the middle from the bottom of the interior to the top of the top pocket, following the line i had just ironed in.

i pinned a 6 inch cut of ribbon folded in half to the middle of the interior on the right side and sewed the ribbon on

last thing i did tonight is pin the interior and exterior right sides together

i re-threaded my bobbin and am ready to finish this, just not tonight =(

My first wallet...

I have found a good tutorial for a tea wallet and decided to make that for my friends birthday. I have recently discovered tea wallets... never knew anyone who had or used one. But my dear friend is always carrying sweet n low packets in her purse and tea wallets are also known to be used for sweetener packets. so i hope she likes it =D
here is the link to the turotial i will be following:
