Good News and a Skull-tastic Sundress (New Look A6093)

Hello everyone!
Well, what would you like first... the good news or the great news?

...

Okay, the good news is I finally got to sew this weekend!! I made 1 dress and started another.
I completed New Look A6093 in view B.

I love it, but I'm not sure the pattern is made for my proportions... let's just say next time I make this I will shorten the waist line a bit to give my bum  bit more room. I have a small zipper bulge on the back of this dress because my booty won't allow the dress to sit as low as it is supposed to. I regret not making a muslin for the proper fit before using this material... but I have no patience and need instant gratification haha.
No worries though, the untrained eye doesn't see what I see wrong =P I wore it with pride today and still felt super cute!

I love the details on the bust line. I actually started to make this dress in View B with the short sleeves but as I kept trying it on I fell in love with it sleeveless and cut the facings out from one sleeve.

okay, now for the great news:
my "Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Information Management" class is OVER!!!
Hooray!
Can you believe the final exam had 365 questions!!
Yikes!
But I studied until my brain was fried and it paid off!
I only missed 25 questions and got a 93% A

I was seriously exhausted after that final. I was off from work (thankfully!!) so I came home, changed to my jammies, and passed out for a 3 hour nap

I wont have the final class grade until tomorrow though.

Well, I am off to exercise my pooches and do some homework.
I have yet to add the buttons to my shirt dress... I think that will wait another 2 weeks until my evening class is over.

xoxoxo!

Ahoy Matey! (Simplicity Sew Simple A1739)

Ahoy!
This is the other skirt I made during last semester break

 photo 101_5679_zps10a2c499.jpg

I love the way it came together. It was not hard to do at all!
The pattern is Simplicity Sew Simply A1739. I found it at WalMart for 99cents
I will probably make a few more of these with some other seersucker fabrics I have.

At the end of my last break, I left off making McCall's M4769, a button down dress. I struggled with the collar a bit and I am still not 100% sure I have it right. I also need to add the button holes and buttons. This will be a first for me and I will admit I am nervous about doing it wrong. But I do like the way the green makes the print on the fabric pop. Hopefully when I get a chance to finish it, I will understand better and it will come out at least wearable hahah

Well, that's all for now. I hope to be back in a week or two, sewing up a storm and enjoying my break!

Walking in the Spiderwebs (Simplicity 2343 View C)

Hello there!
Remember that skirt I was getting ready to start way back in January... (The one mentioned at the end of this blog post...) The one with my spider web fabric...
Well I finally finished when I was between semesters!
I love, love, LOVE it!

 photo 000_0001-2_zps8244f210.jpg

It is Simplicity 2343 in View C. It is the first skirt that I am comfortable wearing at my true waist.
It was very simple to make. The only thing I did different was the zipper insertion. (I am not so good at the technique that the directions said to use.)
I love the pockets! I am glad I chose to make them black instead of the same spiderweb design as the rest of the skirt.

I think the pattern could be used with my flannel hot rod fabric... we'll see
I have bought tons of fabric while submitting myself to retail therapy during this summer semester
(oops)
but plan on knocking out plenty of outfits in he weeks off before the Fall semester starts.

Once last semester let out, I became obsessed with the need to sew to relax. I just sat with some good tunes, fabric, and my machine and sewed all night until I couldn't sew a straight line anymore.

I have a feeling the next break may be the same hahaha
Stick with me to find out!

2 Weeks Until A Craft Break...

Hi everyone and anyone who still reads this.
Thanks for sticking with me even though I haven't done so good at sticking with you... School has just required so much of me. Sometimes it requires  more than I have to give, but I keep on pushing forward.

I have some awesome news! I officially have a graduation date set!!
WOOHOO!
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Ten and a half months left

 photo 101_5672_zpsf7bbaab3.jpg

This semester I only have 2 classes but since it is a short semester it is a heavy load.
I take a hybrid class called "Legal and Ethical Aspects of Health Information". I have to physically be in class at 7 am twice a week and the other days my teacher emails us with assignments.
I don't know about you but I am not that great at functioning mentally before 10am.
The craziness will all be over in 2 weeks. Problem is, in these 2 weeks I have 2 unit exams and a final to take... Yikes!
My other class is coding CPT and is in the evening three times a week. The main reason I struggle with this class is because I have to wake up so early for my morning class... I have 4 weeks left of this class but I am not so worried about the last 2 weeks.

I have been living off of caffeine and sugar!

By the time I get to my evening class I am goofball to the max and so hyped up that I struggle to control my ADHD.

I have plenty of homework (that I should be doing right now...)

I just wanted to come by and say hi, tell you all I miss you, and promise 2 more blog posts to follow showcasing the skirts I made during the mini week-long semester break I just had. (I will type the now and schedule them a few days apart).
Thank again for all your love and support!!
XOXOXO
